After a solid 5 weeks of work and then a few weeks of playing with it I am mostly done with my retrofit of my RBS. Below is a list of stuff done, happy to answer any questions or post pictures of specific install items.
One of the big discoveries in the process was the PO told me I needed new engines, they also said the engines didnt support N2K, once I got them connected to Dr H it turns out they only have 1600 hours so should last for a number of years which was an awesome surprise (prolly the first good surprise I’ve ever had with boats)
A few quick take aways.
-The electronics package works great, I can get depth readings at 40kts up to a few hundred feed. The combo of the radar overlay, twin mfd’s, FLIR and lights make running at night really doable, was able to cruise at speed the night of July 4th with confidence as logs showed up earlier enough to adjust course, it was pretty flat however.
-The collar paint looks great so far, will be interesting to see how it holds up.
-Solar seems to work well, on a moderate day here in the pacnw it seems to be keeping up with the 24hr demands of the cortex. Will be adding a second panel.
-Something is up with either my props or my engines, I seem to only get 5300rpm which is odd as I think my 14x19’s are stock sized. Best fuel economy is around 3800rpm at 28-29 knots for about 2nm per g. Would be curious what everyone else is getting?
