Made a small video on how to get your old sending unit off.
Also a picture of a large tap to clean the threads. I bought one, but it wasn’t needed. Just slowly turn when taking old unit off to keep the threads good. Most of the junk that fell in the tank were picked up with the racor filters.
awesome. i did the same thing with a 2’ pipe wrench and used a bottle jack to move it. took a lot of effort and nervous sweat before it started moving.
Super helpful! Do you find the tank gauge reliable? I’ve been using the simrad fuel management thing and so far super happy (big thanks to BlueDefender for the rec). So far it seems like my n2k fuel usage does match actual usage.
One more tip I got from Safeboat was to put a heavy layer of marine greased on the tap threads as it helps catch the crap and avoid it going into the tank. seemed to work ok for me and like @SLOtours said - racors will catch anything else.
@05rbs - even after the new sending unit - tank level accuracy sucks. but better than nothing if i forget to reset the burn-counters.
