Does anyone else have the problem of the rear axle locking up because the disk brake pads are rusted to the rotors? I rinse thoroughly and do all I can, but when I come back to the boat after the winter season, (and even just a couple weeks sometimes) the rear axle drags no matter what. I bought a completely stainless brake set that I’m going to install for the rear axle when I get back to the boat in May. Not a cheap solution though. $2400CDN per axle through etrailer! Am I the only one that has had to deal with this? I’d like to have a cheaper solution for the other 2 axles.
Had a tire smoke out of me once due to one of them locking up and didn’t notice for a while. If I recall it wasn’t a pad issue, I had a missing spindle sleeve inside the hub.
I only use trailer a few times a year - but yeah - I switched to all stainless setup on all 3 axles as my old calipers and rotors were very nasty.
Did it about 7 years ago and its’ holding up well but starting to see a little surface rust on the stainless too.
