I seem to have sprung a small leak where water comes in from under the sliding battery tray, and runs towards stern under stair, and then stops when we get on step. Maybe 3 cups of water after a few days.
Anyone had or heard of anything similar? A minor leak but concerning nonetheless!

Scary! I would pull onto trailer and investigate asap - pulling collar if required. I would inspect the sealed compartment with borescope to ensure it’s not taking on water. Location of the inspection ports are in manual.
It would be unlikely the side sheet rotted enough to let water into the cabin. The rig tube is in between them and that would need to rot as well. From experience most water leaks under the seats comes from the back lockers. Both rig tubes are at the lowest part of the locker and when water gets in the locker (from a failed vent or deck pie most commonly) it goes downhill and that lead to the helms. The cutouts to access under the rig tubes are under the aft seats and water will find its way in from there. When the boat was new the rig tubes were foamed shut with expanding foam to close off the rig tube. Over the years all that ever did was trap the salt water in and make it hard to change shift cables. I do not recommend doing that again I would recommend looking for standing water in your aft locker, it may be the cause of your water intrusion.

Figured it out and forgot to update everyone and was almost exactly what above ^ said!
It was the rubber scupper on stern that was letting in water, and even after replacing it, there was still a bunch of water along bottom of aft lockers. Simply drying it out completely has eliminated the issue and we are back to water tight!
i’m confused by the resolution. if the rubber scuppers (assume you had used flaps vs the OEM bags?) let in water - that would just flood the back deck, not the lockers, right?
so did you find the source of water into your lockers? As Sean mentions if water was inside there, it would likely migrate down the big tubes into the cabin without foam.
in my case, my lockers leaked at one point - and the source turned out to be the transducer cable that was using a thru-hull fitting below the water line. i think it was this way on some earlier boats and then they moved it up above the waterline.
